  1. Drill #81 Find the equation of the line passing through the following point with the given slope: (-4, -3), m = ¾ 1. Point- Slope Form 2. Slope Intercept Form 3. Standard Form

  2. 12-1 Sampling and Bias Objective: To identify various sampling techniques, and to recognize a biased sample. Open books to page 642.

  3. (1.) Sample, (2.) Population, and (3.) Random Sample ** Sample: Some portion of a larger group Population: The group from which a sample is chosen. Random Sample: A sample that is chosen without any preference, usually representative of an entire population.

  4. (4.) Stratified and (5.) Systematic Random Sample ** Stratified Random Sample: A sample is chosen after the population is divided into similar non-overlapping groups. Systematic Random Sample: Items are selected according to a specified time or item interval. (assembly line)

  5. Classify a Random Sample Example 1a, b: page 642 Check Your Progress 1A, 1B CLASSWORK: 12-1 Study Guide, #1-4

  6. (6.) Biased Sample ** Definition: a sample in which one or more parts of the population are favored over others.

  7. Identify a Sample as Biased or Unbiased Example 2a, b: page 643 Check Your Progress 2

  8. (7.) Convenience and (8.) Voluntary Response Sample ** Convenience Sample: A sample in which members of a population are chosen who are easily accessed. Voluntary Response Sample: Involves only those who want to participate in the sampling.

  9. Identify and Classify a Biased Sample Example 3a, b: page 644 Check Your Progress 3A, 3B

  10. Identify the Sample Example 4a, b, c: page 644 Check Your Progress 4A, 4B, 4C
