Punto 1- Doubt vs. Certainty + all of WEIRDO • Subjunctive is used when something is in doubt or unknown. • *Dudar que, No creer que, No pensar que, Negar (eie), no es cierto que, etc… • Indicative is used when there is certainty or a strong belief (like an opinion) *creer que, pensar que, parecer que (Me parece que…), saber que, es cierto/seguro que, etc…

  3. Punto 2- Existent vs. Non-Existent • Use the subjunctive if there is not certainty of existence. • HINTS- indefinite article- Busco un novio que.. • In a question ¿Hay alguen que….? • Use the indicative if there is certainty that something exists. • HINTS- definite article- Me gusta el restaurante que… • Hay and Tener may be used with indefinite articles and still use indicative. Tengo un amigo que…

  4. Punto 3- ESCAPA (Always subjunctive)- remember to follow “Holy Grail” for present or imperfect subjunctive • En caso de que- in case • Sin que- without • Con tal de que- provided that • Antes de que- before • Para que- so that • A menos que- unless

Punto 4 y 5- Present Subjunctive ONLY used if 1st clause has future tense or a command • Cuando • Aunque Hago la tarea como dice la • Como maestra. • Después de que • Donde Haz la tarea como diga la • En cuanto maestra. • Hasta que • Mientras Haré la tarea como diga la • Tan pronto como maestra.

Punto 6 compounds of –quiera and similar indefinite expressions • These expressions are followed by subjunctive (use sequence of tenses) • Dondequiera-wherever • Quienquiera, quinenesquiera- whoever • Por + adjective + que- no matter how… • Cuandoquiera- whenever • Cualquier(a), cualesquier(a)-whatever • Pordifícilque sea, lo haré No matter how difficult, I will do it. • Aceptarécualquiertrajaboqueellos me ofrezcanI will accept whatever job they offer me.
