History • Galileo discovered Jupiter ‘s first four moons in 1610 by pointing a telescope in the sky. • Jupiter was named after the kings of gods, the ruler of Olympus and the patron of the son of Cronus. (Saturn)

Moons • Jupiter has 63 moons but 16 are only known. • The known moons are: • Metis, Adrasthea, Thebe Io, Europa, Ganymede, Callisto, Leda, Himalia, Lysithea, Elara, Anake, Carne, Pasiphae, and Sinope.
