  1. COMMUNITY BASED REHABILITATION FORUM A presentation on Community participation in CBR Updated on: March 2012

Purpose of Reflection Workshop • Purpose: • to facilitate Persons With Disabilities and the community to be part of the CBR initiative right from the planning stage & to enable them to participate fully and effectively to assess their needs collectively; • Timeframe: • Reflection workshop is organised for 3 days towards end of the first Phaseand subsequent phases.

  3. Participants for Workshop Representation from community: • First day: Two leaders from each village – (50% Women)- total about 50 key PWDs. • Government officials like SSA/ PHC/ CHC/ ICDS (AW)/ ASHA/ BDO/ DRDA/ PRI and School Teachers Local CBR activists / Members of Rights Based Groups could be invited to join the workshop. • Applicant and one or two board members • Project Team and key staff from the organization • Representatives from CBRF • Second & third day: 10 active PWDs/DPO leaders

Facilitatingthe Workshop • The co-ordinator or applicant may facilitate the entire workshop by following these steps- • Give a good introduction & explain the purpose of gathering • Display charts on RW done by the team at village level • Forming groups ensuring a writer and moderator in each group. • Invite community members, PWDs and other stakeholders to brainstorm & reflect on: • Discuss what has happened during the current phase and list out all the achievements /issues. • what needs to happen during the next phase would be discussed and prioritized by groups under each of the 4 areas.

Facilitatingthe Workshop Cont…. • Invite the response from PRIs, school teachers, ICDS staff and other Govt. personnel on the issues of disability. • presentation by the Co-ordinator on the CBR team’s view of the achievements of the programme. • The Management to discuss Staffing and Management issues and foreseen plan of action. • Ensuring planning for the next phase based on the thematic actions finalized by the participants. • Consolidating the plan in the shape of a planner and making the final presentation to the community. • After finalization, the team needs to work on “Expected Outcomes’ for the proposed Phase and include in the proposal. • The project team should document proceedings of the whole workshop and prepare the planner accordingly.
