Food and Nutrition Security Policy adopted by cabinet. • Adopted by Cabinet on 24th July 2012. • Launch is scheduled for beginning of November 2012. • Policy Development process began in 2011 led by FNC , wide consultation from Gvt, UN, donors, NGO’s, and civil society at national, provincial and district levels. Policy Goal “to promote and ensure adequate food and nutrition security for all people at all times in Zimbabwe, particularly amongst the most vulnerable and in line with our cultural norms and values and the concept of rebuilding and maintaining family dignity". • The policy has 8 Commitments each led by a sector ministry; e.g’. Commitment 2: Agriculture and Food Security is led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development. • Currently the various lead ministries are working on developing implementation matrices for their commitments.
