  2. Why I Chose bees I chose bees because they’re helpful to everyone and I think people miss understand them.

  3. My descriptive Paragraph The picture I’m describing has a black and yellow Bumble Bee on a yellow and white flower. It has a pretty purple back ground. A B

  4. Species In the whole world there are about twenty thousand different species. Here are a few of them. • Bumble Bee • Killer Bee • Honey Bee • Carpenter Bee

  5. Colonies Bees live in colonies, there are three kinds of bees in each colony. There is the queen bee, the worker bee, and the drone. The queen bee’s job is to lay all of the eggs. The worker bees are female just like the queen bee, but only the queen bee can reproduce. The worker bees’ jobs are to collect pollen and nectar, to feed the colony. All of the drones are male, their job is to mate with the queen.

  6. Bees’ stingers You might think all bees sting but they don’t, only female bees sting. Female bees are the only ones to sting because their stinger is part of their reproductive design. Females keep their venom in a sac attached to their stingers. All female bees sting, but sterile bees, also known as worker bees can’t lay eggs like the queen bee.

Facts • Just one hive can contain about 40-45,000 bees • The only insect in the world that produces food for humans are honey bees • Bees can live up to 6 weeks • To make 1 pound of honey bees have to visit 2 million flowers • Bees can fly up to 15 mph • Bees have to eat about 8 pounds of honey to produce about 1 pound of beeswax

  8. Hibernation Different bees have different ways of dealing with the cold. It really depends on what species you’re talking about.
