Otto Christ AG. Dickenreiserweg 15 87700 Memmingen (Germany)
Founded in 1967 as limited company. Existed since 1879 as a family owned company. They are still today family-owned and the three brothers Otto, Walter and Franz are still running the company. All are in their sixties or late fifties. It seems that the older generation is pulling themselves slowly out of the company because they appointed Rolf-Guenther Krupezki as Manager and founded a holding company that owns all the buildings and rent that out to the work company. Children of Otto are also active in the managing of foreign subsidiaries. Christiane and Otto Jr. are both co-managers of Christ France. They have direct operations in various countries in Western and Eastern Europe. Trend is down. Chairman: Otto Christ Sr. Employees: 400 Turnover: 1997 1998 1999 DM 134.000.000 140.000.000 145.000.000 Daughter companies in : Germany, Austria, France, Netherlands, and Sweden.
THE HISTORY OF THE OTTO CHRISTAG- 1879 Anton Christ established a craft business in Memmingen, producing grain sieves, wire mesh and iron gates. - 1924 Wire netting produced first time ever by automatic machinery - 1956 Production shifted to the use of steel wires and steel tapes for automobile production - 1963 Franz Christ proceeded with the idea to build a car wash with brush stations and drying stations, laying the corner stone for the modern day production. - 1966 Relocated to a new manufacturing area in Benningen - 1968 First production of a fully automatic car wash, advanced motorization resulted in higher demands. - 1980 Christ decided to direct their future attention exclusively to car wash systems. At that point in time, Christ confidently began their leading roll in Europe. - 1996 Firma Christ became a stock corporation Board of Directors: Franz Christ (Chairman), Otto Christ jr., R.G. Krupezki Supervisory Board: Otto Christ (Chairman), Walter Christ, Dr. Richard Christ
With more than 650 employees throughout Europe, the company earns to date yearly profits amounting to more than 130 million DM, with production grounds covering over 18,158 sqm. Existing subsidiary firms are located in Sweden, England, France, Austria, Spain, Czech Republic, Slovakian Republic, the Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland and Hungary. What differentiates Otto Christ Ag from their competitors, is their profound manufacturing knowledge/experience. In addition to their in-house metal working department, electronic engineering department, and pneumatic department, they also have a division especially for the processing of synthetic material. Once again, Christ takes a different approach. Since 1986, the car wash's exterior lining has been produced with Polystyrol, but not only to avoid corrosion. In doing so, Christ has conscientiously put special effort into exhausting all resources. The plastic lining from damaged or old car washes is returned, shredded in a machine and the recycled lining is then incorporated into a newly produced car wash. Programs: Rollover Car Wash, Washtunnel, Self-service Car Wash, Truck & Bus Wash Unit, Water Recycling System, Car Wash- and Service Products Otto Christ AG Car Washes Post Office Box 1254 D-87682 Memmingen Telephone: 08331/857-0

New Kärcher washing systems for rolling stock • Highly flexible thanks to modular construction • A high-pressure version of the time-proven RBR 6000 has been launched specifically for tank, hopper and other freight cars with awkward shapes that cannot be washed cleaned in brush-type washes. In this drive-through wash, the cars are presprayed with a cleaning solution, then washed with rotary high-pressure pencil jets and finally rinsed to remove all residual dirt and detergent. The new RBF 7000, whose brushes are raised and inclined to clean the nose and tail surfaces, provides a thorough and efficient method of washing locomotives. Numerous add-on facilities are available, such as a high-pressure chassis, side and bogie wash. This system offers excellent performance and a high level of equipment and is available at a favourable purchase price. These extensions to the product line mean that Kärcher now offers cleaning systems for almost all types of rolling stock: from trams, urban and underground railways to locomotives as well as passenger and freight cars with the most varied surface profiles and structures. As a systems supplier, Kärcher provides all the services of a main contractor: from building construction, civil engineering and tracklaying to waste water and towing systems. The first projects of this kind have already been completed.
Innovation Right from the beginning. Back in 1946 Karcher introduced “hp cleaning” in Europe and created a new product roup with portable HP cleaners in 1984. For over 50 years they have been developing new ways to handle a very old problem: dirt.

Winnenden, October 1998 - Kärcher has extended its range of locomotive and train washing systems by introducing a number of new developments. These include a new wash for heavily contoured rolling stock, the tandem cycle system, the high-pressure version of the RBR 6000 and the RBF 7000 locomotive washing system. One feature that is common to all Kärcher systems: they have been designed using the modular method of construction. They can literally be tailor-made to exactly match a very broad range of customer requirements. The side brushes of the special wash for heavily contoured rolling stock are divided into several sections so that they will even mould themselves to the curved side walls and skirts of double-decker cars. Obviously, cars with more conventional contours can also be washed in this drive-through wash. The term 'tandem cycle' denotes a new washing system concept which incorporates travelling washing brushes in a drive-through plant. The advantage of this system is that it requires less space – the building length that is needed can be reduced by up to 25%.
