IN ANY MANAGEMENT MODEL, VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL INTEGRATION: -IS A VITAL ELEMENT FOR SUCCESS -IS A PLANNED ACTIVITY -SHOULD BE CAREFULLY STRUCTURED IN THE PROJECT PROPOSAL -ALL LEVELS SHOULD BE INCLUDED AS PARTNERS OF THE PROJECT -PROJECT SHOULD BE MANAGED WITH INTEGRATION IN MIND INTEGRATION IN MANAGEMENT MODELS

  3. -During the execution of the Gokova Project an Advisory Committee made of a larger participation of offices of the partners plus all the local stakeholders was operational. This Advisory Committee met every month to discuss a specific problematic issue of the region. Altogether 27 meetings were held throughout the Project. This Committee formed a good basis for horizontal integration. . SETTING FOR INTEGRATION

  4. -However there was no means for a vertical integration. With the change in management of the Project an Executive Board was formed consisting of the high level representatives of the Partners namely Muğla Governorate (one vice governor), Ula Sub- Governorate (the sub-governor himself), Akyaka Mayorship (the Mayor himself) and EPASA representative (vice director of Koycegiz office). This Board held meetings almost every week to discuss and review the technical findings and administrative issues related to the region. The results were reported to higher levels periodically.   5. These two seperate levels of Boards helped considerably in reaching satisfactory levels of commitments and both vertical and horizontal integration for implementation of the ICZM and Action Plan. SETTING FOR INTEGRATION

  9. ICZMA Plan has been presented to partners and local stakeholders. In order to start the implementation of the Plan financial means must be enabled. As stated in the ICZMA Plan a new legislation is needed to be able to initiate a budget. New projects and sources are needed to finance the implementation process. PRESENT STATUS
