Kanye West: Background • Rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, fashion designer, and entrepreneur • Full name: Kanye Omari West • Born June 8, 1977 in Atlanta, GA (grew up in Chicago) • Married to Kim Kardashian; 3 children named North, Saint, and Chicago • Began music career as music producer for Roc-A-Fella Records • Signed with Roc-A-Fella Records as rapper • First album released in 2004: The College Dropout • Released 7 albums in total • Record label: GOOD Music • Most popular business venture outside of music: YEEZY

  3. Success of Music Kanye West, a famous singer, songwriter, rapper, and music producer has been incredibly successful in his music career. In addition to being a rapstar who has reinvented hip hop several times, he has won 21 grammy awards. This music genius has had 34 million albums sold and been among the top 100 influencers. There is no rapper that has had this kind of success. Out of the 380 nominations he has received 92 awards. The college dropout (2004), spiraled him into the Best rap Album slot at the 2005 grammy awards, three MOBO awards, and Best New Artist at the BET awards.

Management Strategies • Have a Vision He had a clear cohesive vision for his newest album and sought to execute that vision by making it a priority, and recruiting producers, songwriters, and fellow musicians who fit into album’s concept. • Aimed for perfection Kanye West is the ultimate perfectionist. Prior to the release of his latest album, he released and re-released singles until they were ready and up to his standards of perfection. • Build a Good Team Kanye West sought out stars, from the world of hip hop and pop music who would complement his sound and fit into his vision for the album. This led to collaboration that elevated each song to be able to shine and and contribute to making the customers even more excited for the album and buying it the first week it was released .
