  7. Parts of the Newspaper • ARTICLE INFORMATION • Headline – the title • Byline – the writer • Inverted Pyramid – the writer gives the most important information first, less important information last in order to hold reader interest

  9. Parts of the Newspaper • SECTIONS • Headlines – most important events, found on the front page • National News – information covering the entire country • Local/Regional News – covers town and state news • Financial – information about banking and investments (stocks)

Parts of the Newspaper • SECTIONS • Political – articles about the government • Sports – information about national and local sports • Entertainment – reviews and other information about music, movies, plays, and celebrities • Advice – articles like Dear Abby where people ask for relationship advice
