  3. History • The German federation (DVV) exists since 1955. In the federal league the German master is determined since 1957. • Volleyball is since 1964 an Olympic discipline. The variation Beach volleyball was officially recognized in 1986 by the FIVB and belongs since 1996 to the Olympic program.

  4. How to play The major tasks of the middle attacker /-blockers are the block play and the quick attack by the middle (position 3). The outside attacker /-blocker attacks from the left side of the field and puts the block on his field side (position 4). The major task of the setter is to pass the accepted or repulsed ball with the second ball touch of the team to his attackers (position 2).
