Imam Hasan (A.S.) - The Leader of the youth in Heaven- His birth and name • Imam Hasan(a.s.) was born on the 15th of Ramazan in the 3rd Hijrah. His name was suggested by Allah(swt) through a Vahi to the Prophet Mohammad(sawaw) whichsuggested that since Imam Ali(a.s.) is to the Prophet(sawaw) as Hazrat Haroon(a.s.) was to Hazrat Moosa(a.s.), the name of his child should be on thename of the son of Hazrat Haroon(a.s.) which was Shabbar – meaning Hasan(a.s.) in Arabic. This was the first time that a child was named Hasan.
Imam Hasan (A.S.) - The Leader of the youth in Heaven- His knowledge • Imam Hasan(a.s.), like all other Imams(a.s.) was granted divine knowledge byAllah(swt) and he demonstrated it right from his childhood. Once he was asked "What are the 10 strong things that are stronger than oneanother?". He replied:Among the strong things is stone;even stronger is the iron which is used to break stone;even stronger is the fire which melts iron;even stronger is the water which extinguishes fire;even stronger are clouds that carry water with them;even stronger is the air which floats the clouds with it;even stronger is the angel who moves the air;even stronger is the angel who will give death to the angel who moves the air;even stronger is the death which will come upon the angel of death; andeven stronger is the order of Allah(swt) which governs the death.
Imam Hasan (A.S.) - The Leader of the youth in Heaven- His knowledge • Once the ruler of Rome asked him, "Which are the creations which were born without a mother and father or Male and Female", and Imam(a.s.) replied: These are 7 creations: Hazrat Adam(a.s.), Hazrat Hawwa(a.s.), the lamb which was sent in place of Hazrat Ismaeel(a.s.), The camel of Hazrat Saleh(a.s.), The serpent of Hazrat Moosa(a.s.), Iblees and the crow that taught the method of burial to Qabeel.
Imam Hasan (A.S.) - The Leader of the youth in Heaven - Some Ahadees in His praise • 1. Ahmad ibn-e-Hambal, Tirmizi, Nisai and ibn-e-Habban quoted on authority of Hazrat Huzaifa(r.a.) and Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri(r.a.) that Prophet Mohammad(sawaw) said – “Hasan(a.s.) and Hussain(a.s.) are the leaders of the youth of paradise and Fatimah(s.a.) is the leader of the women of paradise.” • 2. Tirmizi and ibn-e-Habban quoted from Hazrat Usama bin Zaid(r.a.) that Prophet Mohammad(sawaw) said – “Hasan(a.s.) and Hussain(a.s.) are my and my daughter’s sons. O Allah I love them so you love them too and you love anyone who would love them.”
Imam Hasan (A.S.) - The Leader of the youth in Heaven • He was one of the two persons in whom the progeny of the Holy Prophet ( S.A.W.) was limited. He was one of the four persons through whom the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) made the contest of prayer (Mubahila) with the Christians of Najran. • He was one of the five persons whom the Holy Prophet ( S.A.W.) covered with his cloak. He was one of the twelve Imams whose obedience Allah made incumbent on people. He was among those who were purified from sins as the Holy Qur'an says. He was among those whose love Allah made reward for the divine mission of Islam. He was among those whom the Apostle of Allah made one of the two valuable things (Thaqalayn). Thus, whoever cleaves to them does not go astray. The Holy Prophet ( S.A.W.) loved him and asked Allah to love those who love him. • Imam Hasan(A.S.) the Second Holy Imam of the Shi'ites in the world was Divinely gifted with all great qualities to such an extent that he was outstanding in knowledge, tolerance, intelligence, bounty and valour.
Imam Hasan (A.S.) - The Leader of the youth in Heaven His great worth and status in the eyes of the Prophet (SAW) can be guessed by these events: One day, Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) was on the tribune, delivering a speech to the people, he heard the voice of his weeping. He came down from the tribune, went to calm him down, and then returned to his place. When the people asked him the reason for this act, he said, “Whenever I hear the voice of his weeping I get restless”. The Prophet (SAW), having offered his prayer along with the people, would lift Imam Hassan (AS) into his lap and would say, “Whosoever loves me, must love this child as well.” Sometimes, he lifted this child upon his shoulder and said, “It is hoped that God will purify this Ummah through him.” Or he would say, “Whosoever loves Hassan (AS) and Hussain (AS) he loves me and whosoever nurses grudge and has enmity against them has enmity with me.” “Hassan (AS) and Hussain (AS) are the two chiefs of the youths of the paradise,” he had said. Then he said, Hassan (AS) and Hussain (AS) are the two earrings of the Empyrean, paradise of God takes pride and potentates due to them.
Imam Hasan (A.S.) - The Leader of the youth in Heaven • Imam Hassan (AS) whenever he went to Mecca for pilgrimage, he would go walking on foot. Whenever he performed ablution or stood for his prayers he saw himself in the court of God and his body started trembling he said, “The time has come for me to submit the deposit of God to Him.” • When he came to mosque, he would raise his head, in the prayer place, towards the sky and say, “Oh God this is your guest standing in your court. Your defaulter servant has come towards you. And he hopes that you will forgive his bad deeds, by virtue of your kindness and forgiveness.”
Imam Hasan (A.S.) - The Leader of the youth in Heaven - Problems during and after his life • As with the other Imam(a.s.), Imam Hasan(a.s.)’s life was also filled withdifficulties. From the very childhood he saw the faces and activities of the socalled companions of the Prophet(sawaw) who left him alone in severalbattlefields, who objected to the Prophet(sawaw)’s decisions up to the stagethat some of them expressed their doubts that he was Allah(swt)’s Prophet. Then upon the demise of Prophet Mohammad(sawaw), he saw that only a handful of his faithful companions were there to bury him and the rest had left him toshare political power among themselves. He saw the atrocities of Bani Ummayad in the way they treated the Ahle Bait(a.s.) and hurled accusations against ImamAli(a.s.) after the killing of Hazrat Usman. He lived through the battles ofSiffen and Jamal and finally saw the martyrdom of his father Imam Ali(a.s.).As if all of this was not enough, even after his death the agents of Bani Ummayacontinued their work against the Ahle Bait(a.s.) and grafted stories of hundredsof marriages of Imam Hasan(a.s.). Some mentioned that he married 70 times andother said that he married more than 300 times but none could count names ofmore than 10 wives. Such was the strength of their hatred that upon his death,he was not allowed to be buried alongside his grand father, the Holy ProphetMohammad(sawaw).
