Researching your Funder- where to find funds? Where to find information about funding: • Internet – databases and search engines (more info to follow) • Websites • Networks/Local knowledge • Publications • Your local CVS
Examples of search engines to use… Merseyside Funding Information Portal www. mfip.org.uk National- www.j4b.co.uk e.g. Chorley 4 Community, South Ribble 4 Community www.turn2us.org.uk These engines should allow you to: • Register your organisation • Conduct funding search • List of funders to look through
Are you ready to be funded? • • Bank Account? • • Constitution? • • Policies and Procedures? • • Accounts - Can you manage the money?
Making an application - specific things to look out for! • Eligibility: • • Specific interest - criteria • • Geographical area • • Exclusions • • Amount of money available • • Types of organisations funded • Always refer back to the guidelines!!

Making an application - specific things to look out for Outputs and Outcomes: Outputs are all about numbers i.e. Sessions delivered, People attending Outcomesare all about the difference your project has made e.g. • Participants developed the skills and knowledge to operate equipment • Participants had the confidence to give a presentation to a group of people • Participants felt their communication skills had improved, this in turn improved their confidence
Making an application - specific things to look out for Monitoring & Evaluation Monitoring: Provides evidence of progress Need systems to record results Success of your project Evaluation: Is a report on the impact your work has had Gives insight into what improvements are needed Shows trends of future opportunities Strengthens planning and forecasting
Do’s and Don’ts! • - Plan and research • Is the need clearly identified. Are any other groups in the area delivering similar project? • Apply for what you need to deliver project, not just what is available in the fund • Complete all questions on the form (not additional sheets) and provide all supporting information • Always refer to the guidelines and criteria in your answers • Get the application in on time
Consult with your CVS • Help identify funding • Support developing the idea • Support with the application process • Advice on how to promote the project • Support to identify policies you may need
