  3. More Features of Mars THE SOUTH POLAR CAP: The image to the left is the South Polar Cap, the south polar cap consists mainly of frozen Carbon Dioxide. THE NORTH POLAR CAP: The image to the right is the North Polar Cap, unlike the South Polar Cap, the North Polar Cap probably consists of Water-ice.

  6. The Tharsis Volcanoes In the Tharsis area of Mars three volcanoes are of existence, they are called the Tharsis Volcanoes, the Tharsis Volcanoes are each about sixteen miles high, which is equivalent to twenty-five kilometres. From Earth, they are seen as three dark red spots.

  7. The Valles Marineris The image you see above is a large mosaic of the Valles Marineris (VAL –less mar-uh NAIR - ISS ). The lower centre of the image shows the entire system of the Valles Marineris Canyon, which is more than three thousand kilometres or one thousand eight hundred and sixty miles, long and up to eight kilometres (five miles) deep. This image shows some of the Candor Chasm in the Valles Marineris, the Candor Chasm is centred at a Latitude of –five zero, and a Longitude of seventy one. The Candor Chasms geomorphology is complex, it is shaped by tectonic plates, mass wasting, wind and maybe by water and volcanism.
