3 Favourite Music Video’s By Jessica Rowe
All Time Low – Weightless This music video started to be filmed on May 20th and was directed by Matthew Stawski. This song interests me for many reasons: When this video was being edited the media producers put in words/sentences around the actors; bands heads to emphasize that what they are thinking is not how they respond. This is very effective because its like the bands opinion of everyone else in the room but the public watching the music video are the only once that know. The theme is of a band gig where all their fans have showed up but its as if the words are what the band are thinking of everyone behind their backs.
Sleeping With Sirens – If You Can’t Hang This music video was made in 2011 by Pop/Rock band Sleeping With Sirens. This music video is interesting to me: the theme of the video is extremely plain though effective. The video is set in a dark room with only a few spotlights at the back and it appears to be raining inside. I find this effective to create the illusion that they are in a dark enclosed area and are all alone. Though of course how would they be able to plug in the instruments and amplification outside in the rain. I think this video has been make very technically to look as if there isn’t a lot going on, though when you take in every detail included you see that the video has been made very cleverly.
Chasing Hollywood – Sail The World Chasing Hollywood – Local band (Chudleigh) formed in 2007 Chasing Hollywood are a local band from Chudleigh; they have progressed throughout their time as a band and have made some amazing songs. This video in particular is impressive to me: It has a very interesting story line. This is one of my favourite music video’s because this band is local to me and I have learnt a lot from then as people; I also think it is inspiring to other musicians to see a local band develop as they are. The leas singer (Edd Henley) is late for a gig that the rest of his band are already setting up for, though on his travels to get to this event he has a lot of bad luck. Part of line story line is that he gets the chance to start again as his day rewinds to the start and he then makes it on time.
