CAMPC Goals During the course, students should become able to: I. Assess the well patient in an ambulatory setting. II. Evaluate common acute clinical problems in the ambulatory setting. III. Manage the longitudinal care of the patient with chronic conditions. IV. Develop a population perspective to medicine using epidemiology and evidence based medicine.

Critically Appraised Topic (CAT) Objectives Task: to complete 1 in IM and 1 in Ped, prior to completing the respective block. Instructions are in the handbook and on the Navigator site.

Submitting CATs Submit all your CATs via email to Judie Adler-McNutt and Dr. Elnicki in the above format. You will receive individualized feedback for the 2 CATs. CATs will be graded for completion (Pass/Fail). You will not receive a specific score.
EXPECTATIONS FOR CAMPC STUDENTS 1. Be professional (punctual) 2. See a diversity of health care issues 3. Discuss your role with preceptors 4. Participate fully in patient care 5. Obtain a focused history 6. Perform physical exams: adult and child 7. Participate in didactic sessions 8. Work on assignments

Midterm Feedback • Each student will meet with a CAMPC Committee member at the end of the 1st four week block to review performance/goals. • Those students finishing Peds will meet with Dr Kaleida, Biller or Van Deusen. • Those finishing IM will meet with Dr Elnicki or Holzinger • The coordinators will schedule these meetings
Feedback Forms Students will bring the 2 feedback forms, completed, to the meeting. • A self-assessment with a list of goals for the 2nd half of CAMPC • A supervisor form, completed by a single preceptor of the student’s choosing These forms are not for grading, but for guiding learning experiences.
Didactic Session Evaluations • Before leaving each session, students need to complete a single question evaluation for each speaker. • Copies will be distributed at each Monday session and each of the discipline specific sessions.

Evaluation Policy 1. Failure of any course component will result in a grade of Low Pass or Fail for the course. • Failure of a clinical section must be remediated to the satisfaction of the discipline specific director and the CAMPC Committee. • You need >75% on both the written exam and OSCE to be eligible for honors.

How to ask for time off • Dr Elnicki: 8/29/06 I am an MS3 scheduled for CAMPC during Nov-Dec. I’m writing to request an excused absence for 12/8 to attend a friend’s wedding.
