  10. Action • Whenever pains in hands, arms, shoulders or neck arise from keyboard use, ensure that the following are correctly set up. -seating height and position, -keyboard height, -display height and angle

  11. Action • Discuss with the user the idea of hiring a MALTRON keyboard for a 4 week trial. Explain that adapting to it does NOT prevent the use of the previous one if necessary. * • Ensure that the user does NOT return to a flat unit during the trial and has pressure free time to adapt. * Musicians often play several instruments, the music is the same, but the fingering is different.

  17. Actions and Benefits. • Check Workstation to be sure that cause of problem is not a poor set up. Fix if necessary. • Discuss the idea of trying a MALTRON keyboard with the user. Show reports of success, and obtain willing cooperation by ALL concerned. • User will much appreciate caring and sympathetic actions. RSI is no joke and seriously affects living. • Allow time for unpressured recovery and return to productivity. This can be weeks or months. • In disability cases chose an appropriate keyboard and explain operation and advantages to user. • All keyboards can be hired for initial trials.

  18. Post Presentation Page This presentation was made at the S&H@Work show, Birmingham UK. in May ‘02. Somewhere around 1000 previous RSI sufferers are now back at work by changing to the MALTRON two handed keyboard. In most cases without any other treatment, and sometimes, as Dr. Foster reports, after all medical efforts had failed.
