  4. Social Justice Social Justice is a set of practices and a lifestyle choice centered on creating a world where people can live in peace and in fullness.

  5. Social Justice Component Questions Application

  6. Principle #1 Component: Social Justice calls us to educate ourselves. Questions: What am I missing? What is in the shadows? Application: Pick a subject. What is the history? Why is it happening? Who does it benefit? Who does it hurt?

  7. Principle #2 Component: Social Justice calls us to address root systems of oppression. Questions: What are some of the root systems that keep people in poverty? Application: How can we address the root systems that keep people in poverty?

  8. Principle #3 Component: Social Justice requires that we examine our own connection to oppression. Questions: How do I benefit from poverty? How do my actions keep people in poverty? Application: What is something personal that you can do today? Tomorrow? Everyday?

  9. Principle #4 Component: Social justice call us to address power and control. Questions: Who has the power? Who has the control? Who makes the decisions? How do they maintain their power and control? Application: Start with picking an issue that you are passionate about. Ask about power. Ask about control.

  10. Principle #5 Component: The work of justice begins and is strengthened in relationships. Questions: Who are your allies? Who can you trust? Who can be in community with you? Application: Who can you reach out to today to begin a relationship?

  11. Social Justice Social Justice is a long-term commitment. We have to make justice personal. Don’t be discouraged.
