Payment is made once every 90 days. To be eligible for the bonus, BOTH drivers must have a hazmat endorsement. * The solo rate of pay applies for drivers on the OTR sliding pay scale. It is not applicable for solo drivers on the Northeast regional fleet, dedicated solo drivers, or solo drivers who are on the new solo OTR test pay.

  6. Get your endorsement in three easy steps. How to Get Your Hazmat Endorsement Step 1 • You must provide… • Valid commercial license • Proof of U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status • Valid proof of social security number • Valid DOT medical card • You must pass a vision screening and hazardous endorsement knowledge test. • You must pay the hazardous materials testing and application fees.

  7. How to Get Your Hazmat Endorsement Step 2 • You will call and register with the state to be fingerprinted as part of the criminal background check and security threat assessment process. • You will go the state-approved fingerprinting location for fingerprinting.

  8. How to Get Your Hazmat Endorsement Step 3 • After fingerprinting, keep your receipt/confirmation or keep a copy of the money order receipt. • After the state receives your fingerprinting verification, they will submit your hazardous materials endorsement application to the state for the background check. • The approval process normally takes 2-6 weeks, but depends on the state issuing the approval.

  9. How to Prepare for the Test • You can prepare for the hazmat endorsement test by completing the hazmat courses at the Pro-Tread and Safety Center websites. • Review the study material in the CDL manual for your state and take the practice test in the manual. FYI • You will be required to re-take and pass the hazmat endorsement test every time you renew your CDL.
