  6. Estuary Habitat Restoration Council • Solicits • Reviews • Evaluates • Corps will only fund projects recommended by the Council • Emphasis on cost-effective restoration w/partnerships

  7. Estuary Habitat Restoration Activity • Improving degraded estuaries • Creating estuary habitat (physical and functional) • Self-sustaining • Re-establishment of chemical, physical, hydrologic, and biological

  8. Examples • Improvement of tidal wetlands • Dam or berm removal • Fish passages • Reef/substrate creation • Vegetative planting • Control of invasive species • Reintroduction of native species

  9. Exclusions • Mitigation excluded • Cercla or other laws • Federal lands

  10. Cost sharing • Max 65% Federal/35% Local (greater % more competitive) • Except for pilot projects – 85% of incremental additional cost. • Inkind services credit • Other Federal funds not used for local sharing

  11. Funding • Limited • <$25,000 nor >$1,000,000 • Keep it small!!!
