Age Limits for Juveniles • Age 17: May be tried as an adult for any crime. • Age 16 or Younger: Juvenile court can certify you as an adult and transfer you to the adult criminal system. • Age 12: Juvenile Court can certify you as an adult for serious crimes.

Sentencing Factors • Was the offense against people or property? • Was the offense brutal, or unintentional? • What was the state of the victim? • Was there a weapon involved? • Was the offender alone, or part of a group? • Has the offender committed past crimes? • Was the offense deliberate, or provoked? • Is the offender hostile or remorseful?
