Installation • http://ess.stanford.edu • Mac and PC • Based on OpenAFS code (PC: OpenAFS 1.2.3, Mac: OpenAFS 1.2.9) • Download installer to the desktop • Run Installer • Will reboot after installation
PC Windows 2000, and Windows XP only Requires latest version of PC-Leland (2.1.3) C:\Program Files\Stanford\PC-AFS Service: PC-AFS Client Dependencies: PC-Leland NetBIOS RPC MacLeland Mac OSX 10.2 & greater Requires latest version of MacLeland (2.1.1) /var/db/openafs Dependencies MacLeland Installation
Operation - Mac • Mount Home Folder • Mounts to /afs/Users/t/o/tonysil
Operation - Mac • Mount Other – Department - ITSS
Operation - PC • Mount Home Folder • Mounts to /afs/Users/t/o/tonysil
Operation - PC • Mount Department - ITSS
Operation • Mounts • User maps to ir.stanford.edu/users/u/u/username • Group maps to ir.stanford.edu/group/groupname • Department maps to ir.stanford.edu/dept/deptname • Class maps to ir.stanford.edu/class/classname • Full Path… • Must enter the full AFS path. Example: ir.stanford.edu/dept/itss/WWW/ess
Operation • Creating a shortcut (PC) • 1. Mount an AFS volume(example: user home directory) • 2. Double click on “My Computer” • 3. Note the volume name and drive letter of the mounted volume • 4. Double click on the mounted volume in My Computer, and browse to the file or document that you want to make into a shortcut (example: user public folder) • 5. Right click on the file or volume and select “Copy” from the menu
Operation • Creating a shortcut (PC) • 6. Right click on the desktop and choose “Paste shortcut” • 7. Right click on the shortcut, and select “Properties” from the menu • 8. Change the drive letter (example: “X:”) , with the name of the volume noted in step #3 (preceded by “\\”) example: • Volume is called: “tonysil on PC-CANDIDE-AFS” • “Z:\public” becomes \\PC-CANDIDE-AFS\tonysil\public • 9. Unset the drive that was set in step #1
