Intoduction • My animal is the arctic fox. It’s species is AlopexLagopus. • The arctic foxes lifespan is 15 years in the wild! • The arctic foxes are endangered. There are not manyleft. • Arctic foxes can grow 18 to 43 inches long! They weigh up to 17 pounds!
Habitat • The arctic fox lives in the Arctic. • The climate can reach to -90 Fahrenheit! • To get protection and warmth, it digs a den in the snow. This also helps it camouflage in the ground.
Food • The arctic fox eats carnivore. • The arctic fox catches it’s prey in two ways. The first way is to hunt it. It camouflages into the snow then bites it’s prey with it’s sharp teeth. • The second way is to follow a polar bear and pick on it’s leftovers.
Babies • The arctic foxes have 4 to 11 kits at once.
Behavioral Adaptations • Arctic foxes hunt by blending into the surroundings and then jumping out and surprising it’s prey.
Physical Adaptations • The arctic fox has white fur in the winter to blend into the snow. • The arctic fox has brown fur in the summer to blend into the dirt. • The arctic fox has bushy fur in the winter to keep it warm. • It has short fur in the summer to keep it cool. • It uses it’s sharp teeth to kill it’s prey.
FUN FACTS • The arctic fox uses it’s tail as a blanket when sleeping. • Arctic foxes usually stay in packs or groups. • The arctic fox likes eating rabbits or owls at night. • The arctic fox has the warmest fur of any mammal, even warmer than the polar bears fur.
