Employees (Servants or Slaves) • Ephesians 6:5-8 “Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Obey your boss with respect and fear • Ephesians 6:5 “Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.” • 1 Timothy 6:2 “Those who have believing masters are not to show less respect for them because they are brothers. Instead, they are to serve them even better, because those who benefit from their service are believers, and dear to them. These are the things you are to teach and urge on them.”
Serve with “Sincerity of Heart” • = singleness of heart, an undivided mind. • Serve Conscientiously (v6) • Ephesians 6:6 “Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.”
4. Serve with Enthusiasm and Expectation • Ephesians 6:7,8 “Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free.” • Enthusiasm means “In God.” • Pleasantness = Good will
Employers(Masters or Bosses) • Ephesians 6:9 “And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.” • Golden Rule for Masters or Bosses: Treat your employees in the same way that you want to be treated. • 2. Don’t threaten, You too have a Master, He is God.
3. Before God, we are all equal. There are no favourites. • 1 Timothy 5:21 “I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism.” • Ephesians 5:18 “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.”
