  2. This Weeks Vocabulary Write the list of words leaving two to three lines in between each word. Do this in the vocabulary section of your binder. • Abet- • Accord- • Adept- • Advocate- • Agile- • Allot- • Aloof- • Amiss- • Analogy- • Anarchy-

  3. Define with a partner: • Work with the person beside you to define the terms. • You must share dictionaries. • If you do not finish in the allotted time, you must finish for homework.

  4. Novel Time • We are about to begin our first class novel. • This novel is called Forged By Fire. • It is written by Sharon Draper • This novel is an AR book • We will be reading it in class due to the fact that I don’t have enough for everybody to have their own to take home.

  5. Forged: to form by heating and hammering; beat intoshape. What do you think this story will be about based on the cover and the title?

  6. POPCORN ~We will begin reading the novel today. ~We will do this by playing popcorn. Each student will read 2 to 3 paragraphs depending on length, and then they will popcorn one of their peers. ~LET’S GO…..

  7. Homework ~ Read at least 30 minutes and fill out your reading log. ~ Journal: What is going to happen next in the story? What will happen to Gerald?

  8. Warm-Up • Write one sentence for each vocabulary word. • MAKE SURE the sentence is a good sentence, meaning that if a person read your sentence and didn’t previously know the meaning of the vocabulary word you are using, they will once they read your sentence. • You have 15 minutes to complete this.

  9. POPCORN ~We will begin reading the novel today. ~We will do this by playing popcorn. Each student will read 2 to 3 paragraphs depending on length, and then they will popcorn one of their peers. ~LET’S GO…..

  10. Homework ~ Read at least 30 minutes and fill out your reading log. ~Journal: If you were Gerald, what would you do to help you little sister? What would you do differently than Gerald?

  11. Warm-up You will use your vocabulary words to make a 3 column chart.

  12. Vocabulary Quiz • Study for the first 5 minutes of class for your vocabulary quiz. • We will take the quiz…you must know how to spell the words and the correct definition

  13. Quiz Time • You have 15 minutes to take the quiz

  14. Literature Circles • Recorder: You need to be somebody that writes neatly. • Book Man: You are the person that refers to the book. • Leader: You are the person that makes sure you are getting each question answered, and that everybody participates. • Time Keeper: In charge of keeping a look out for time and making sure you are getting all of the questions done in a timely fashion.
