There's something about a breathtaking landscape that motivates the artist in all of us to capture its essence on canvas. Speaking for myself, I always want to create a piece that reflects my level of emotion, and I want all future viewers of the painting to feel the transference of these same feelings.
Since you are watching this video, I assume that you feel as I do. So , in order to help everyone create some beautiful pieces, I've listed some ideas to help with your next project, plus I have a actual artist
Jason Bowen who will be doing a live painting start to finish. So stay tuned.
Jason Bowen received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in illustration from Brigham Young University in 1995. During that time he was greatly influenced by an unknown, yet exceptional artist, Ralph Barksdale. Ralph taught him the importance of drawing and working from life.
Following graduation he was invited to study and mentor with William Whitaker, a nationally respected figurative artist. Jason worked with Bill for two years, until 1997 after which he attended workshops with nationally known artists Richard Schmid, David Leffel and Robert Johnson.
In 2000, he began a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting through a residence program in Italy with the American University of Washington D.C. Jason spent 2 years studying the Italian landscape, seeking to capture the spirit and character of Italy in his paintings.
In 2003 he began teaching at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California where he currently teaches figure painting, figure drawing and landscape painting.
In addition to teaching at the Academy, he directs their summer abroad program in Italy. Jason's work can currently be seen at the Garden Gallery in Half Moon Bay, California and the Shelby House in Menlo Park, California.
