  2. Your Garden • Automatic lawn irrigation can save time, money and water over hand held sprayers and hose-end sprinklers. • These systems are convenient, efficient and economical, but to keep them performing at their best, they do require some regular maintenance. • Now that spring is upon us and the sun is heating up, it’s the perfect time to give your reticulation a once-over! • Here are a few tips for making sure you’re getting the right amount of water into the right places.

  3. Conduct a Visual Inspection • One of the best ways to know if your sprinklers are functioning or not, it to watch them in action.Turn the system on and observe the operation to identify some common issues. • Areas that are not being reached may require reticulation adjustment to ensure the sprinkler head is properly aimed. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations, or contact us for help. • A sprinkler head that doesn't appear to be spraying may either be experiencing low flow, or be clogged with lawn clippings, mud and debris. • If you notice an area where water seems to be flowing too heavily, or is puddling, it is likely you have a broken sprinkler head.

  4. Mark Problem Areas • Since Sprinkler heads can be hard to locate, and impossible to tell apart when they are not spraying, marking problem sprinklers with a small flag or other marker can lead you back to areas that need attention. • If you intend to make repairs on your own, this will be invaluable. And if you’re calling for help, while our technicians will conduct their own inspection, knowing where there are problem areas is a great place to start. • Make a note of which sprinklers were doing, or not doing what. By sketching out the placement on paper, you can make a note as to which sprinklers had which problems. • Always consult manufacturer's data, or call a professional reticulation expert before conducting repairs. Sprinkler heads are rugged in normal operation, but easy to disturb, or even break if you are unfamiliar with construction.

  5. Mark Problem Areas (cont’d) • So before summer sets in, get out there and give your sprinklers a bit of TLC! Make sure they’re working properly, identify your problem areas, and fix them up to reduce water wastage and keep your lawns looking lush. • LD TOTAL offers a full range of service and reticulation repairs on most major brands, and we'd be happy to take a look at your system and recommend the solutions we feel most appropriate for your application. • Our technicians can provide reticulation programming to ensure maximum water wise settings – checking that the right times and days are set according to your allocated watering days.
