IPPC 4th Report 2007 • Warming of the climate system is unequivocal • 0.13degrees C the atmosphere is warming each decade • At a depth of 3 kilometres the oceans have warmed • 90% certainty that we are to blame • Eleven of the last twelve years (1995 -2006) rank among the 12 warmest years in the instrumental record of global surface temperature (since 1850).

Climate Change in SE England – 2050s • Mean annual temperature + 1.2 to + 3.4 oC • Winter rainfall + 6 to + 22 % • Summer rainfall - 8 to - 23 % • Mean sea level in the English Channel + 54 cm. • Overall increase in temperature and rainfall variability • Higher likelihood of summer heat waves and very wet winters
