Forum Goals • Assist convention attendees • Promote member interaction: • Between Forum members • Between Forum members and staffers • Support anime and associated interests
Moderator & Staff Goals • Answer questions regarding the annual AnimeIowa convention • Keep threads friendly and on-topic • Alert specific Moderators and Staffers: • If posts or threads require their assistance • Of threads that may be helpful to them • Have fun!
Moderator & Staff Rules • Do NOT get drawn into arguments. Keep things factual and calm. • Provide a POSITIVE example of how to use the Forums. Don’t break any Forum rules or terms of usage! • And our MOST IMPORTANT RULE…
ONLY answer questions that you 100% know for the CURRENT convention year! If you are NOT absolutely positive that you have the very latest info: • Indicate that you will find out and return to post the answer as soon as you can • Contact appropriate people and request that they answer the questions • Provide contact info (staff E-mail or Forum name) for departments or team members • If you MUST answer right away, add a “previous year proviso”
Common Moderator Tasks • Answer questions in your Forum area • Support your area: • Make important threads “Sticky”, split/join threads, clarify thread subjects • Lock threads that are dead or no longer applicable (but NEVER delete them) • Move incorrectly located threads to the appropriate area • Help other moderators by alerting them of issues in their areas
Moderator “Damage Control” • Move Spambot posts/threads to “Spambot Purgatory” • Provide “friendly guidance”, and log incidents to the “Rogues Gallery” • Make minor edits to posts if necessary • In a crisis, move hypercritical threads to “Threads Gone Wild” and contact the Admin (NEVER delete any thread)

Common Staff (Non-Mod) Tasks • Answer questions related to your department(s) • Promote your area: • Make threads and posts to inform people about your department and events! • If you’ve got an important announcement, request a Forum Headline (potentially with link to info thread) from the Admin • Help moderators by alerting them of issues in their areas
Staff (non-Mod) Q&A • Questions about using the Forums? • You DO have access to the hidden staff section, don’t you? • Demonstrations?
