How Can the Maryland Teacher Standards Be Used to Improve Instruction? The standards framework can be used by: • Teachers to assess performance by completing a self-assessment • Administrators to assess performance and guide administrators on what a teacher should know and be able to do • Leadership team to determine professional development needs Teacher Standards
