Some Things Jesus Did How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him (Acts 10:38).
Some Things Jesus Did Paid His Taxes When they had come to Capernaum, those who received the temple tax came to Peter and said, "Does your Teacher not pay the temple tax?" He said, "Yes." And when he had come into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, "What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth take customs or taxes, from their sons or from strangers?" Peter said to Him, "From strangers." Jesus said to him, "Then the sons are free. Nevertheless, lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a piece of money; take that and give it to them for Me and you" (Matt. 17:24-27).
Some Things Jesus Did Paid His Taxes – So Must We! Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience' sake. For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God's ministers attending continually to this very thing (Rom. 13:1-6).
Some Things Jesus Did • Washed the Feet of the Disciples (Jn. 13:1-17). • Purpose: Teach humility. • Not an act of worship. • Foot washing in the class of good works (1 Tim. 5:10). • We must be engaged in good works (Gal. 6:10). • Helping others • Showing hospitality • Must not be “too good” to do the work ourselves.
Some Things Jesus Did • Performed Miracles • Walked on water (Jn. 6:19). • Fed 5,000 (Jn. 6:5-14). • Healed man at Bethesda pool (Jn. 5:1-12). • Healed the blind (Jn. 9:7). • Purpose of His Miracles—cause people to believe: • Apostles believed (Jn. 2:22). • Samaritans believed in Messiah (Jn. 4:39-41). • Multitudes believed (Jn. 6:2, 14).
Some Things Jesus Did • Set A Good Example • For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps, who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered threatened not; but committed himself to him that judges righteously(1 Peter 2:21-23). • Good to know what Jesus did!
Some Things Jesus Did • Rebuked False Teachers (Matt. 23). • Warned Us To Be On Guard For Them. • Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves (Matt. 7:15). • Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world (1 John 4:1).
Some Things Jesus Did Wept (Jn. 11:35) Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled. And He said, "Where have you laid him?" They said to Him, "Lord, come and see." Jesus wept. Then the Jews said, "See how He loved him!" And some of them said, "Could not this Man, who opened the eyes of the blind, also have kept this man from dying?" Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb… (Jn. 11:33-38). But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd (Matt. 9:36).
Some Things Jesus Did Bore Our Sins Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth (Isaiah 53:4-7). Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness--by whose stripes you were healed (1 Pet. 2:24).
