What is NEET? • National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET, is India’s only medical entrance exam conducted by the CBSE, Central Board of Secondary Education. • As stated by the judgment of Supreme Court, all the medical colleges counting government, private and minority institutions, will recognize the NEET scores for admittance.
NEET vs. AIPMT Number of papers • The main differentiation between AIPMT and NEET is the number of papers. • In line to clear AIPMT, the students would have had to clear two stages: the prelims and the mains. • In NEET has only one paper, after which the admittance process will begin.
Number of questions • AIPMT had 200 questions in prelims and 120 questions in mains • NEET has 180 Multiple Choice Questions. • The exam duration of NEET is the same as that of AIPMT, 3 hours. • The question paper consists of 4 sections with 45 questions each. Section — No. of Question Physics — 45 Chemistry — 45 Botany — 45 Zoology — 45 Total — 180
Seat Quota • AIPMT examination was being held to provide only 15% admissions to the government and private medical colleges in India. • NEET has nationalized the entrance process. • NEET presents admission on 100% seats in both the government and private medical colleges of India.
How is NEET better? • NEEThelps to get rid of the discrepancy between different state boards. • NEET abolishes management quota. • Consequently, corruption will be eliminated w.r.t medical admissions. • It gets easier for students and parents to decide, because of one examination and one score “If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint,’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.”
Students are going to save money and time. One exam means all their time and money invested in preparing for only one centralized entrance exam, NEET. • NEET won’t interfere with state’s rights over the medical education. • The States of India will have their share of admissions, and only the admission process is centralized. • NEET is a modulation of medical entrance examination process for which medical aspirants have always yearned for. • Of course, the only disadvantage is the Do or Die situation with only one examination every year.
