DukeTheseus, TheAmazons, QueenHippolyta, Emely, Creon, Arcite, Palamon. • What? • DukeTheseus won thewarwiththeAmazons and marriedtheirQueen, Hippolyta. • Theseus, Hippolyta and Emelywentto Athens. • Ontheirwaytheycametothecity of Thebes. • Theretheyfoundlots of womencryingbecausetheycouldn’tburytheirrelativeskilled in thewarwithCreon. • TheseusfoughtCreon and won thewar.
What? • Theseus’ menhurttwo of Creon’sKnights: Arcite and Palamon (cousins). • Arcite and Palamonbecameprisoners in Athens. • Theyfell in lovewithEmely, so theybecameenemies. • Arcitecame back toThebes free. • Arcitewent back to Athens because he lovedEmely. • Palamonescapedfromprison and foundArcite in theforest. Theystartedtofight. • Theseustoldthemtogoaway and come back in a yearwithonehundredKnights. • Theyfought and Arcite won but he ishurt and died. • So, PalamonmarriedEmely.
CHAPTER 3: TheWife of Bath’s Tale • When? King Arthur’s Time • Where? Camelot • Who? Tarquin, Lucretia, King Arthur, QueenGuinevere, anuglyoldwoman • What? • TarquintookLucretiaon a hillfarfromCamelot. • King Arthur: “When a knightfromCamelottreats a womanbadly, he must die.” • QueenGuineverefeltsorryforTarquin, so shechangedthepunishment. • Punishment: in a year he hadtofindtheanswertothisquestion “What do womenwantmost of all? • Anuglyoldwomantoldhimtheanswer: “theywantto rule theirhusbands”. • Then, Tarquinmustpaytheoldwoman back so he marriesher. • When he kisseshershebecomes a beautifulyoungwoman.

King Walter, Griselda, Vera, Fidelio • What? • King Walter issadbecause he had no wife and no son. • He goesintotown in dirtyclothestofind a wife. • He marries Griselda (from a poorfamily) becausesheisobedienttoherfather. • King Walter testshersendingtheirchildrenaway. • At theend King Walter bringsthem back.

January, Damian, May, Justinius • What? • Januarywas a richoldknightthatwantedtomarry a youngwoman. • He marriedMay. • Hisservant (Damian) and Mayfell in love. • Januarybecameblind and veryjealous of hiswife. • Thegod (Pluto) and thegoddess(Prosperina) wereangrywithMaybecausesheisbeingunfaithful. • Theygavethesight back toJanuarywhenMay and Damianwerehuggingintothetree. • ThenMaysaidtohim: “anoldwomantold me tofightwith a man in a peartree and youweregoingtoseeagain”.
CHAPTER SIX:THE FRANKLIN’S TALE • Where? Brittany (France) • Who?
