Overview • Issues: • AI 1.2 Res 746 resolves 1: Extension of Meteorological- Satellite Allocation near 18 GHz • AI 1.3: Extension of allocations to Radiolocation and Earth Exploration-Satellite services near 9.5 GHz • AI 1.5: Additional spectrum for Aeronautical Mobile Telemetry near 5 GHz • AI 1.6: Res 414: Additional allocations for the aeronautical mobile (R) service between 108 MHz and 6 GHz • AI 1.18: PFD limits in the band 17.7-19.7 GHz for satellite systems using highly inclined orbits
AI 1.2: MetSat Extension – 18 GHz • USA proposal – Expand the current 18.1-18.3 GHz geostationary MetSat service (space-to-Earth) allocation to include 18.0-18.1 GHz; protect the BSS feeder-link earth stations in Regions 1 and 3 • Avoids high-density applications in the FSS in Region 2 in the band 18.3‑19.3 GHz • CITEL and Mexico proposals support the USA proposal • Proposals for expanding the allocation upward from 18.3 to 18.4 GHz • APT • Arab States • CEPT • RCC
AI 1.3 Extension near 9 GHz – RL & EESS • USA proposals • Upgrade RLS allocation from secondary to primary in 9000-9200 MHz and 9300-9500 MHz to meet requirement for increased image resolution and range accuracy; continue to protect RNS and meteorological radars from stations of the RLS. • Expand existing 9500-9800 MHz EESS and SRS allocations downward to include 9300-9500 GHz for systems that cannot be accommodated within the 9500-9800 MHz band and that require bandwidths larger than 300 MHz; continue to protect the RLS and RNS services with the extended science allocations.
