Better Environmentally Sound Transportation We strive to make our communities healthier places to live by promoting sustainable transportation; land-use planning and pedestrian, cycling and transit oriented neighbourhoods. • Our transportation choices programs include: • off ramp secondary school trip reduction program • Go Green Choices, workplaces trip reduction • Coordination of the Commuter Challenge • Beyond Planning TDM conference and listserv
Program Development • Go Green public awareness campaign - 1990 • Employee Transportation Administrator Training Program • Regional Trip Reduction Service- 1997 • Go Green Choices • Jack Bell Foundation ridesharing service
Current Activities • Go Green Choices currently works with 130 workplaces • Since 1997 we have trained 500 co-ordinators
Current Activities Program includes: • one day training course for workplace co-ordinators • location assessments • ongoing support and advice • social marketing prompts • brochures, guidebooks, and postcards
Further Developments • On Board pilot program - 2001/2002 • Goal: to determine opportunities to increase the use of sustainable transportation choices at the workplace. • More comprehensive support for pilot organizations
