  2. LA CALA DE LOS MUERTOS (THE DEAD’S COVE) La cala de los muertos (The Dead’s Cove) is one of the most beautiful beaches in Almería. To come here you have to walk a long distance through the mountain.

  3. MAESTRO PADILLA The concert hall Maestro Padilla is the biggest concert hall in Almería. It is near the beach.

  4. LA MOLINETA • Its name comes from and old mill that is in the place. • Molineta = Molino = Mill • La Molineta is an area near the centre of Almería where you can do many activities (trekking, jogging, cycling, etc). • It is not recognised as a natural park.

  5. LA PLAZA DE TOROS (THE BULL RING) • La plaza de toros (the bull ring) is one of the most important buildings in the town. Here you can see how bullfighters dodge bulls beautifully.

  6. MEDITERRANEAN GAMES STADIUM • Mediterranean Games stadium (estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos) is the most important sport building in Almería. In 2005 Mediterranean Games took place there.

  7. LA ALCAZABA AND THE CATHEDRAL • La Alcazaba is one of the two most historical buildings in the town. It was built to protect the city from attacks. • The cathedral is the other most historical buildings. It was used as a cathedral but also as a fortress.

  8. Almería’s funfair (la feria de Almería) takes place in the last week of August. It is near the Mediterranean Games stadium. You can go here to have a fun night.

  9. They are long underground tunnels in the centre of Almería. They were built during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) to protect the population from bomb attacks.

  10. El cable inglés is a railway bridge used by trains to transport directly the goods in the station to a ship that was there. • This is the old train station where the trains transported the goods to the ships through el cable inglés.
