2. The Music Staff The music staff is a set of lines and spaces we use to organize different levels of sound. These different levels of sound are referred to as different pitches.

4. The Clefs Musicians place clefs on a staff to determine what pitches are represented on which lines. Different clefs are used by musicians to accommodate the wide range of pitches performed by voices and instruments.

5. The Clefs In chorus we only use two types of clefs. The Treble Clef and The Bass Clef

6. The Treble Clef The treble clef, also known as the “g” clef, is most often used in chorus to provide sopranos and altos with their pitches. However, guys can sing on the treble clef also

7. The Treble Clef The reason that the treble clef is also know as the “g clef” is because it circles around the note “g” which gives us a starting point for finding the other notes.

8. The Bass Clef The bass clef, also known as the “f” clef, is most often used in chorus to provide the tenors and basses with their pitches.

9. The Bass Clef The reason the bass clef is also known as the “f clef” is because it’s two dots are on either side of the “f” line.

10. The Grand Staff Whenever the treble clef and bass clef are used together we call it a grand staff. The “Grand Staff”
