2. This course is an overview of drama and theatre production on a level appropriate for beginners in high school. We will learn the different eras in drama using Kentucky Core Content for Drama as a guide. Section Description

3. Student Objectives 1. The student will identify and define theatrical terms. 2. The student will demonstrate audience etiquette. 3. The student will demonstrate understanding of historical implications to dramatic works and movements. 4. The student will write transactive writing folder pieces. 5. The student will be able to make connections from the text to the “real world.” 6. The student will identify historical and literary terms from theatre history.

4. Course Requirements: In order for the student to be successful in this course, he/she must meet the following expectations 1. The student will complete all chapter tests and quizzes. 2. The student will participate in all cooperative learning experiences. 3. The student will complete all written projects and/or homework. 4. The student will demonstrate understanding of performance styles and skills.

Assessment/Criteria included for evaluation and Determination of Grade • Tests (4 total) 150 points each • Quizzes (approximately 8) 20 points each • Cooperative learning experiences 10-20 points each • Bell Ringers/Journal Assignments 5-10 points each • Transactive: Review Article 100 points • Other assignments and Homework various

6. Grading Scale: • 93-100 % = A • 85-92 % = B • 77-84 % = C • 70-76 % = D Grades will be determined by dividing the total number of points earned per assignment by the total number of points possible on an assignment.

7. Performance Objectives:

8. 1. The student will enter the room promptly and answer the bell ringer. 2. The student will demonstrate orderly group discussions in a grade appropriate level. 3. The student will have prepared work ready to turn in on due dates at the beginning of class. 4. The student will not bring any food or beverage into the class except bottled water. 5. The student will be required to make up work for excused absences. Work that was due when you out will be due immediately upon your return to class.

9. 6. The student is responsible for the text book in their use. Text books will be treated kindly and returned in neat condition, loss or damage of the book rests solely on the student. 7. The student will participate in group learning activities with respect and courtesy towards teachers and students. 8. The student will display appropriate and authentic writing skills for his or her ability. Plagiarism is unacceptable in any form. 9. The student will remain seated unless otherwise directed by the teacher. 10. The student will communicate any classroom problems or needs the teacher at an appropriate time.

10. Absences I stringently follow school policy in regards to absences. If you’re absence is excused, you have the number of days you missed plus one to turn in the work. Any assignment due on your day of absence is immediately due upon your return to the class. It is your responsibility to adhere to this policy. You may get assignments from your peers or ask me before or after class. Unexcused absences will result in zeroes points for the grade. Work assigned in ISAP will be due in accordance with the excused absence policy. No work will be made up for credit while the student is suspended.

12. Rules of the Class Consequences of breaking these rules will include, but are not limited to, required tutoring sessions after school, a persuasive essay explaining your position and the strengths and weaknesses to that position, parent conferences, etc.
