Mark 10:17-20 As Jesus was starting out on his way to Jerusalem, a man came running up to him, knelt down, and asked, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”...But to answer your question, you know the commandments: ‘You must not murder. You must not commit adultery. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. You must not cheat anyone. Honor your father and mother.’“Teacher,” the man replied, “I’ve obeyed all these commandments since I was young.”

  3. The Question what must I do to inherit eternal life?

Mark 10:21-22 21 Looking at the man, Jesus felt genuine love for him. “There is still one thing you haven’t done,” he told him. “Go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” 22 At this the man’s face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions.

  5. Why So Extreme? Jesus told him, “If you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” Matt 19:21

  6. Tithing - Protection & Blessings Showing Our Faithfulness Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test! Mal 3:10

  7. FirstFruit – Preserving The Harvest Showing Our Gratitude As soon as the order went out, the Israelites generously gave the firstfruitsof their grain, new wine, oil and honey and all that the fields produced. They brought a great amount,… 2 Chron. 31:5

  8. Alms – Lending to the Lord Showing Our Compassion He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, And He will pay back what he has given. Proverbs 19:17

  9. Sowing Seeds – Multiplication Showing Our Faith Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. 2 Cor. 9:6

  10. Stewardship Tests

  11. The Issue of the “Heart” And if your wealth increases,don’t make it the center of your life. Psalms 62:10

  12. 2 Cor 9:7 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
