Lesson objective – to make Bara Brith (fat free fruit loaf) • Tasks • Prepare yourself - Weight your ingredients • Soak your fruit in cold tea and the deep brown sugar for eight hours • Line a loaf tin with greaseproof paper • Mix the fruit, flour, mixed spice, baking powered and beaten egg in a bowl • Pour mixture into the loaf tine and bake for around 45minutes, cool on a cooling tray Success criteria • You have planned out your recipe and have carried out the recipe tasks before coming into school • You have used the ‘all in one’ recipe and have worked in an independent way • Your product outcome is high quality, golden brown and looks appetising and healthy Bara means bread, and brith means speckled. So, Bara Brith means speckled bread.

Lesson objective – to make homemade beef burgers • Tasks • Prepare yourself - Weight your ingredients • Place the beef or other type of mince into a bowl • Chop up your onions, chillies, fresh herbs or any other ingredients you have chosen to use. • Flour your work surface, using a pastry ring divide the mixture into equal sized portions, flatten in the ring and flour on top, place in a lined container, ready to grill at home. • Grill for around 10 minutes until golden brown. Success criteria • You have planned out your recipe and have brought in the correct ingredients. • You have chopped the vegetable elements of the recipe into small equal sized pieces. You have added herbs and spices to your own modified recipe. • You have divided the mixture into equal sized beef burgers • You have produced a batch of healthy beef burgers suitable for a teenagers supper.

Lesson objective – to make homemade fruit or chocolate muffins • Tasks • Prepare yourself - Weight your ingredients • Place the flour, beaten egg, oil, ,milk, baking powered, sugar in a bowl • Mix well until all the lumps come out • Then add the chocolate bits, cocoa powered or any fruit you have chosen to use. • Place the mistue in 12 muffin cases on your baking tray • Lift into the oven and cook for around 15-17 minutes until golden brown and risen. Test the top to see that they are spongy Success criteria • You have planned out your recipe and have brought in the correct ingredients. • You have weighted the ingredients and have placed them in the bowl ready to mix using the ‘all in one’ recipe. • You have divided the mixture into 12 equal sized muffins • You have produced 12 appetising muffins that are round and all equal sized. You have chosen to modify the recipe outcome using your own idea and ingredients interpretation
