Train them in the operation of an MRC
Monitor ongoing volunteer recruitment and training.
3. What is an EC, and who is joining? The Steering Committee for the local MRC
Appointed by the Board of Health, works closely with them and all local emergency personnel to meet the needs of the community
Solicit Board Members at Orientation
Individuals who wish to chart the course, work as a team and enjoy community activity
Meet with them until they are comfortable being independent
Liason’s from BOH and other organizations will always be a resource
4. “And you do WHAT again?” Goals for your EC
Basic MRC operation:
Work with Board of Health, LEPC, Police, Fire to determine the needs of the community
Communicate with members re: training, other MRC opportunities
Complete a Region 4a Standard Operating Procedure
Ensure continual volunteer recruitment and sustainment.
5. Parade Floats, anyone?Additional Goals The EC will structure the local MRC according to the needs of the community.
Assistance with Public Health initiatives (flu clinics, fairs, education, etc.)
Ensure level of volunteer training as requested by local emergency personnel and MRC
Ongoing recruitment at all events
6. “Talk to me, People!”Communication with volunteers Conducted/orchestrated by the EC
Newsletters, e-letters, webpage
Communication of training, setting up of customized workshops
Frequent email updates
