Xbox 360 • Xbox live- is an online system that allows players to play together in a game. • Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Sky player, Bing • Anti-Piracy 2.5 scheme updated to 2.6 • Windows media Centre allows wireless streaming via a router.
PS3 • Blue ray player so you can play high resolution films on your PS3 • PSN network lets you play with your friends and other people play online and it’s free • 3D support available when accessing Java-based content on Blu-ray video discs.
Comparison • The Xbox 360 and PS3 are similar the both have online capabilities however, the PS3 gives users online for free while the Xbox users have to pay for it. • They both also have wireless media playback • Xbox can also have party chats which means that you can talk to up to eight friends online using a microphone. The PS3 alternative is typing using a keyboard this is similar to MSN. • They both have there own HUB with the Xbox having a dashboard where you can watch videos and browse and purchase games in the game marketplace, whilst the PS3 has a standard menu which features the PlayStation store where you can purchase downloadable content or DLC and games.
Contrast • The only noticeable difference is that they are owned by two different companies PS3 owned by Sony. And Xbox is owned by Microsoft. • Also the visuals can vary from each game you play. For example there are major differences between the two consoles in the picture below, you can clearly see that the Xbox image is more defined than the PS3 image.
