ChemgaPedia Enzyclopedia: Teaching and Learning Organic Chemistry The VS-C Project • The object of the project is the creation of a multimedia program providing easy access to e-learning and e-teaching • The project includes 29 areas covering all aspects of chemistry and related sciences • The content of the learning material has to meet the requirements for a bachelor degree in chemistry • The content was developed by 16 academic groups in Germany, Switzerland and Great Britain • Funding for the project was provided between 1999 – 2004 by the German Federal Ministry of Research and Education (BMBF) • Coordination of the project was done by FIZ Chemie Berlin • FIZ Chemie Berlin is now responsible for continuous development of the project. ChemgaPedia Enzyclopedia: Teaching and Learning Organic Chemistry Contents of learning material in VS-C • 15,000 pages • 1,250 learning units (individual chapters) • 20,000 images (gif, jpg, ..) • 3,000 animations (Flash, Java, VRML…) • 2,000 3D molecular models (mol, xyz, pdb…) • 750 streaming video clips • 3,500 glossary and biography entries Organic chemistry material created by: working groups of Professor G.
