Excel has had the pivot table function for many years, and I still prefer the excel 2000 version! However 2013 has added some nice automated features and is certainly better for the first time user. • A Pivot table is a means of taking data from a spreadsheet and summarising it quickly and very easily. You can also create pivot charts in the same way. • Here is an example : - • We have a record of sales at a Market fruit stall and have recorded the customer, product purchased, date, quantity, price and value. From this we can try and find out: • What days aren’t very busy? • Who is the best customer? • Which stock sells least, by price and by quantity and value?
