  4. Academics • Biology Lecture • Biology Lab • Chemistry Lab • Chemistry Lecture • Everything else you want or need to take

  5. General Chemistry • Study in advance!! • If you are having trouble: • Visit your professor • Ask classmates for help • Sign up for a tutor • Help others who are having difficulty

  6. General Chemistry Lab • Visit GA during office hours • Read over the lab manual before your lab • Don’t procrastinate with pre and post labs

  7. Lifestyle & Time Mangement

  8. Plan • Use a physical planner • Google /electronic Calendar • Allocate time throughout your entire day (including average time for meals and recreation) • Check off each completed task

  9. Don’t be a Time Waster • If you have large tasks, break each one down into smaller tasks • Practice the 10-min rule • Create a log of how time was/wasn’t efficiently spent • Avoid the Big Three of time wasting (Facebook, Twitter, Blogging Sites)

  10. Surviving Busy Weeks • Work (way) ahead of due dates. • Be cognizant of due dates for everything. • Spend time studying throughout the term • Self-care

Health • Caffeine (let it be your friend and not your crutch), find alternatives to expensive lattes • Eating regular meals (consider them study breaks) • Sleep (no all-nighters unless absolutely unavoidable) • Exercise –grab a partner if you can’t motivate yourself. • Wake up early every day no matter your class schedule

Be a Young Professional • “With Great Power comes great responsibility” • Being a young adult involves responsibility and accountability • Project an image as if you were in a fishbowl- • Clean up your Facebook presence. • get a LinkedIn • Limit social networking, • Establish a CV/ resume and keep it updated. • Work on your wardrobe choices.

  17. Mentorship Program • Be sure to meet with HPO mentors during the week • You don’t have to be perfect, but you do have to ask for help! • CTLE, tutoring, transitioning, and seeking advice from Dr. Engel & Dr. Orr

  19. Recreation & Involvements Develop a reward system in which you will be able to focus your efforts and live your life. Enjoy USPB, Res Life, and campus events Develop and hone a talent that you’ve always been enjoyed. All fun DOES NOT stem from C2H6O
