  2. From the Apostle’s Creed: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried: He descended into hades; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

  3. Beginnings: • Genesis 1:27-28 (p.3) • Defining Sin: • Sin: missing the mark • Transgress: breaking laws • Tresspass: crossing boundaries • Augustine: falling into nothingness • Rebellion • All have sinned, all sin is against God.

  4. The Grace of the Lord • Matt 4:17 (p.735) • Jesus revealed God (John 14:7). • Jesus had rulership over creation (Mark 16:15). • Jesus restored individuals and outcasts (Matt 10:12-13). • Jesus formed a new community (John 13:35).

  5. Atonement • Ransom/Victor (Mark 10:45) • Means you are in bondage; He has set you free – you need to follow Him out. • Substitution/Justification (Mark 14:23-24) • Means you need to lay down your life for others (1 Jn 3:16). • Satisfaction (Rom 3:23-25) • In gratitude you forgive others. • Indentification/Recapitulation (Rom 6:5-8, p.861) • All of life IN Him.
