Web-Based Tutoring • There are many websites that offer virtual tutoring to students learning any number of subjects from all over the world. • College professors and lower education teachers alike are establishing independent online tutoring hours through programs like skype and ichat. These extra hours allow students who may not have been comfortable or available to ask questions during class or office hours an opportunity to do so. • These programs not only give children more access to the help that they need, it can be a lot more cost effective than having an in-home tutor who typically specializes in one subject. • Online tutoring can foster a healthy and unique alternative learning environment that children are familiar with, a digital one.

Social Media In Schools • While many argue that social media can bring harm into a school environment due to online bullying and the attraction to online predators, many are speaking up and saying that social media needs to be implemented in a schools curriculum because it is not going anywhere. • According to 3rd and 4th grade teacher Matt Hardy, “When kids are engaged they learn better.” Mr. Hardy has made writing fun by using Kid Blog to make writing intriguing for his students. • Sara Romeyn is "Using Facebook To Teach“ in her A. 7. BLIND TECHNOLOGY • There are students today that deal with impairments that keep them from the full learning experience but now there are ways for them to keep up. • Screen Readers: Software designed for voice output on the computer. • Screen Magnification: Software designed to manipulate the appearance of text and images on the computer screen. • Braille Notetaker: It functions as a word processor, both reader and planner. • www.asdb.state.az.us/technology.html

8. DEAF TECHNOLOGY • Cochlear Implants: Implant that is used in people with severe to profound hearing loss or those who show little or no benefit from hearing aids. • Hearing Loop: A coil or wire that amplifies sounds and reduce background noise. It helps the user also because they can set it to a different sound setting. • Linguistic Software: Software with motion capture gloves to help record the movements of the hands (help with sign language).
