  1. By: Mackenzie Bennett Wrong Way Sabotage

  2. I remember it all like it was yesterday. The screams, the sirens, everything still terrifies me. It was a snowy, Friday night; my parents and I were driving to Kelsey’s for a nice family dinner. I was sitting in the back seat and my parents were in the front. Suddenly we started to slide on a patch of black ice, and my dad lost control. He saw that we were going to run into a car in front of us so he swerved to the right and into the ditch to avoid hitting the car. There was a large tree in the ditch and we were heading right for it. “HIT THE BREAKS, HIT THE BREAKS!” my mom started to yell. ”I’M TRYING, THEY AREN'T WORKING!”

  3. My face suddenly turned beat red and I started to scream louder than I had ever screamed before. CRASH, BANG, BOOM, CRACK! Was all I heard. When all the noises stopped I knew that I needed to call 9-1-1 right then. I tried to move, but I was stuck. THEN EVERYTHING WAS GONE.

  4. In the Hospital…No, NO, NOO!” I sat up. I looked around, but nothing looked familiar. I saw big machines and people standing around me. Then I saw my aunt. EW, I hate that old prune. A guy wearing a blue uniformwas talking to her. No-one seemed to notice me. I couldn’t quite make out what he was saying, but I could hear bits and pieces of his sentence. “How do we tell her?” he questioned my aunt. I started to wonder what they wanted to tell me. I decided to get up and ask them, but someone sat me back on the bed. “You have to stay seated.” a voice told me, so I did what they said and sat back down on the bed.

  5. “Aunt Devlin, what do you need tell me?” “Sam, you’re awake! Oh I’m so glad you’re okay!” She ran over and gave me a big hug! Why was she touching me? She never liked me.You weren’t supposed to live.” she whispered in my ear. I didn’t know what she was talking about.”Why did you survive, why didn’t you die with your parents?” I started to laugh. Everyone looked at me like I had four heads. Then I knew something was wrong….. why weren’t they laughing with me? Wasn’t she just joking around?

  6. “Sam, I’m sorry to tell you this but your parents died in the crash, you were the only one who survived.” said the guy wearing the blue uniform. “Your mom died at the crash, and your dad managed to make it to the hospital but once he was put into the bed, he was gone.” I couldn’t believe it. This is all just a dream, this is all just a dream I told myself. Then nothing happened. I was still sitting in the hospital room. Then I knew it wasn’t a dream.

  7. Here I am now living with that old, mean wrinkly person I call my aunt. I knew she never liked my family, but trying to kill us, that is just unbelievable. I never knew she hated us that much. Now I am stuck living with her. She just wanted the money. All the money my parents had, goes to her. She is my only aunt so I guess that’s why I am living with her but still, why couldn’t I live with Uncle John instead? At least he isn’t planning to kill me.

  8. At the house… Aunt Devlin’s house is in the same city as mine. Meaville. Anyways back to the story. I was sitting in my “room” one day when I heard the phone ring. Aunt Devlin yelled “I GOT IT SAM!” Okay then, I thought to myself. So as I was just sitting there texting my best friend Carly, minding my own business, I suddenly heard Aunt Devlin talking about someone dying, so I decided to listen in to see if I could figure out who died or was dying and when. Sadly all I heard by the end of the conversation was someone was dying. No other evidence of when or who was dying. So, I went back to chatting with Carly.

  9. The phone rang again. “I GOT IT SAM!” Aunt Devlin yelled again. Why did she have to yell so loud, like we are in the same house and I am in the room beside you. Again I heard her talk about how someone was going to die. This time I heard her say “Riley.” Then she paused for a second.”Remember the code name so people won’t know who we are talking about.” she then whispered into the phone. Now I had some evidence. I needed to tell Carly EVERYTHING! I texted her to let her know what I had heard. Her dad is a cop, so I hoped he could help me out. She told me to come to her house, so I ran into the living room, told Aunt Devlin that I was going to my friend’s house. What was I thinking, she didn’t care, why did I waste my breathe talking to her? Anyways, I ran down the street. Carly’s house is just down the road from my “house”, so it only takes about three minutes to get there. I arrived at her house and knocked on the front door.

  10. “SAM!” she yelled. “Hey Carly!” I stepped inside and we went upstairs into her room. “So, what’s going on with you and you’re aunt?” “Well, I think she wants to kill me. I overheard her talking on the phone about someone dying and that they had a code name for that person because they didn’t want anyone to hear anything. And when I woke up in the hospital bed she asked me why I survived and told me that I was supposed to die with my parents.” “I don’t know what to say. If you don’t have any evidence of her saying that then you can’t prove anything to the police. Just wait until she is on the phone again and when you hear her talking about someone dying record the conversation on your IPod then you will have some evidence. You will still need proof that she wants to kill you.”

  11. “When I go home tonight I will wait until there is a phone call. When and if there is I will stand by my door with my IPod recording the whole conversation. Oh my, it’s already 6:05 p.m., I have to go for dinner, I’ll text you tonight. Bye!”

  12. “See you later!” I ran down the street as fast as I could. I’m supposed to be back at 6:10, or else I will be in BIG trouble. I ran into the door at surely enough dinner was on the table. I was lucky though. It was only 6:09 p.m. Nice dinner. Kraft dinner and fried Bologna. It is my favorite, but seriously , we had it last night. Anyways, I just took it upstairs because there is really no point in sitting at the table with her. I mean it’s not like she’ll talk to me anyways. I head up to my room and sit on my bed. I sit there eating my Kraft Dinner when suddenly the phone rings. I think about picking it up, but then I realized that she had already got it.

  13. I decided to shove most of my Kraft Dinner in my mouth and walk downstairs. It would look like I just wanted more but really I would have my IPod in my pocket recording the whole time. I went with my plan and headed for the kitchen. She was sitting at the table and I could hear every little word she was saying. I knew she saw me but thought I was just getting some more Kraft Dinner. “Yes I know we need to do it soon or else Riley will find out too much information and we won’t have enough time to do you know what,” she whispered into the phone. I started to get a little excited. I ran up the stairs and texted Carly everything.

  14. I had it on tape and knew I could bust her this time. I was too excited to text so I decided to call her. “I got it all on tape every last word,” I told her. Then I heard Aunt Devlin coming up the stairs. “Got to go! Bye!” I quickly said. The next day I went to Carly’s house to explain everything to her so we could tell her dad, and get that mean old aunt in jail. After I explained everything to Carly, we decided to go tell her dad. He listened to the recording and told me I had good evidence. He said we could take it down to the police station right away. We drove down to the station and told the policemen working.

  15. They told us that they couldn’t arrest her yet, that they would have to do some other research first like a background check. The only thing was that they didn’t want me staying with her tonight because it would be too dangerous, she could strike at any time. I just called her and told her I was staying at Carly’s for the night since her parents agreed to let me stay. She just said. “Fine, whatever.”

  16. The next day the police station called Carly’s dad saying that they found a background check on her and that she had been in jail once before, but that was when she was 29. I had known that, but I didn’t bother telling anyone because I didn’t think they would believe me. Anyway, they told me to stay away from the house today because they were going to arrest her!The last thing they told me was that I would now be living with Uncle John! Boo-Ya!

  17. A few hours later they called again saying they caught her and she is now in jail, along with that other suspect she was always talking to on the phone. I was glad that it was all out of the way and now I could go back to living a normal life, even without my parents.
