  2. “There is more in you than you think!” In the tradition of Kurt Hahn*), we strongly believe that to explain the Award is not enough, and that we also have to take care that its spirit can be experienced in every single seminar. Hence, in Summer School, “learning by doing” is the most important seminar method. *) Kurt Hahn, “inventor” of the Award, was born (1886) and died (1974) in Germany

Award Leaders Course • This course is mainly aimed at people • who either have not yet participated in an Award Leaders Course or • who want to broaden or refresh their knowledge. • Main topics are • Award Philosophy & Process • Mini-Expedition • Designing individual programmes • Development Plan.

  6. Expedition Course • This Course is meant for people who are or want to become trainers, supervisors or assessors for Bronze or Silver Expeditions. • Coached practical experience: A “real” expedition is going to be supervised and evaluated by the participants of the course. • Theoretical knowledge about the Expeditions Process: • Training • Practise Expeditions • Qualifying Venture • Delivering the Expeditions section.

  7. Award Officers Course (Simulation) • This course addresses people responsible for (part of) the work of an Operating Authority. • The management simulation is supposed to prepare them for their different tasks or to improve their work in different areas. • Main stages are • Introduction: “Six Pathways” • The Game: Rules, technics, scenario • Round 1: Trial & Error • Round 2: Cast off! • Round 3: Amidst real Award live • Round 4: Broadening and deepening • Evaluation.

Open Workshops • Everybody is invited to run her / his own workshop on any topic or skill related to the operation of the Award. • A Workshop marketplace will be held where participants can choose one or more workshops from the list or add their own subject. • Topic proposals: • Award Development Plan • Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) • Gold Expedition • IASS documentation (video) • Online Award Management System • Reviewing activities • Roman History Tour • Visit of Wild Country Area “Odenwald” • ...
