For all units, material is presented in variety of ways: Investigations & Hands-on Experiences, Note Taking, Interactive Board Activities, Projects, & Reading Texts. Homework is usually given 0 -4 times a week. Integrated Curriculum: We often use 6th grade math skills and work on reading strategies, especially with nonfiction text.
Next Generation Science Standards With the Next Generation Science Standards, students learn through three-dimensional learning. The three dimensions of learning are: Cross Cutting Concepts – Concepts that help students make connections across the domains of science (Physical Science, Life Science, Earth Science, and Engineering Design). Disciplinary Core Ideas – Key ideas in science that are important across multiple disciplines. Science and Engineering Practices – Practices science and engineers use to investigate the natural world and to design solutions to problems
ELA Structure • Read, analyze, respond to short stories and non-fiction • Novel Study • Literature Circles • Writing Process Pieces • Mythology • Journal Writing • Independent reading (Bookmarks and Book Projects) • Grammar& vocabulary • Inquiry project • Center/lessons/activities • STAR testing • NYS Test Prep
